Drawn In - a Paper Dreams Novel

Sixteen-year old Rennie Winters is an artist, a geek, and an orphan - not necessarily in that order. And after a rough six months without her best friend Maia, she's looking forward to being reunited for a summer in California. Two whole months of beaches, bonfires, and boys? Yes please! But the nightmares that have been haunting her refuse to leave her alone. In fact, they’re only getting louder. Dark images engulf her now even when she’s awake, and worse, they know her by name. She sketches what she can remember from these dreams, and it helps her to cope with them, but now those drawings are developing a very bad habit. They’re becoming real.

And then she meets Alex, who may or may not be perfect. (No, who are we kidding? He's perfect. Fantastic hair, plus he can quote Hamlet and Yoda? Come on!) He’s sweet, and funny, and somehow familiar… but it turns out that Alex has a secret of his own: a book that allows him to Travel back in time. When Rennie discovers that his book and her dreams are leading them to the same place, she knows they must be meant to be together. But her wishes for a happily-ever-after are shattered when she realizes that they're not traveling to the past at all... it's the future. This cute and charming coastal town becomes a desert wasteland of dirt roads and restrictive laws (paper is an illegal substance, and just having it in your possession can get you thrown in jail. Not so good for an artist!) Something terrible has happened between the present and this unthinkable future, and it's up to Rennie to fix it before it's too late.

Drawn In - A Paper Dreams Novel is the first in my new YA trilogy.

I am currently seeking agent representation.
